(AP Photo/Mark Lennihan, File) WASHINGTON — Nearly 20 years after he left the White House, Bill Clinton is still sought after for advice by some Democrats running for president. But the names on his dance card in recent months underscore how much his standing in the party has changed. So far, none of the party's early front-runners has had a formal meeting with Clinton. Nor have the women who are running in the historically diverse primary field. Instead, Clinton has spoken mostly with male candidates who are considered longshots for the Democratic nomination, including Montana Gov. Steve Bullock, former Housing secretary Julian Castro and former Maryland Rep. John Delaney. Clinton remains one of Democrats' most successful politicians of the last half-century and one of its strongest messengers on the economy. Yet the

‘Absolute miracle:’ Rescuers find missing California sisters

Armed with some outdoor survival training, granola bars, and pink rubber boots, 5- and 8-year-old sisters survived 44 hours in rugged Northern California wilderness before they were found dehydrated and cold but in good spirits on Sunday, authorities said. A fire chief and firefighter from a local volunteer department found Leia and Caroline Carrico in a wooded area about 1½ miles from their home in the small community of Benbow, where they had last been seen Friday afternoon, Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal said. Benbow is about 200 miles northwest of Sacramento. The girls were ‘‘safe and sound’’ and uninjured, thanks in part to survival training they got with their local 4-H club, Honsal said. ‘‘This is an absolute miracle,’’ he said. ‘‘This is rugged territory, this is an extreme environment. How they were out there for 44 hours is pretty amazing.’’  A photo of one of the girls posted by the sheriff’s office and already being widely shared on social media shows her

Pandemonium as 5,000 residents flee Rivers community over killing of soldiers

Abonnema   town and neighbouring communities in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Rivers State, weekend, as over 10,000 residents fled the troubled areas, following the killing of two soldiers by gunmen.  Reports from the area said soldiers locked down the Abonnema waterways yesterday, over the incident, forestalling movement by boat in the entire local government area. No fewer than 5,000 panic-stricken residents, including mothers and children, trekked from the community to neighboring towns, sparking fears of humanitarian crisis. On February 23, during the presidential and National Assembly elections, suspected hooligans shot dead a Lieutenant, leading to the killing of over 10 persons by security agents. However, late Saturday, thousands of women drawn from different communities in the local government area, stormed the palace of the Amanyanabo of Abonnema Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, King Disrael Gbobo Bob-Manuel, alleging that soldiers massacred over 30 persons and called f
