QUOTATIONS OF PHARISEES

Image
FOR RELIGION: Conventionality is not morality. Self-righteousness is not religion. To attack the first is not to assail the last. To pluck the mask from the face of the Pharisee, is not to lift an impious hand to the Crown of Thorns. Charlotte Bronte (1816-1855) FOR BIBLE: Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness Matthew 23:27(KJB) And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:  Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Luke 17:20-21(KJB)

Milner says Barca star called him a 'donkey’

Image
Liverpool midfielder James Milner says Lionel Messi called him a donkey during the first leg of their Champions League semi-final for a rough tackle that sent the Barcelona star to the turf. Late in the first half of that opening leg at Camp Nou saw Messi come into contact with Andy Robertson along the sideline. Off balance, Milner came in late with a shoulder barge on the Barca talisman, sending Messi to the ground. Incensed over the late contact, Messi called for a yellow card to be handed out but Milner escaped a warning on that occasion. “He wasn't happy,” Milner, who is learning Spanish, told the  Daily Mail . “He was giving me plenty in Spanish going down the tunnel at half-time as well. He was calling me 'burro'. “It translates as donkey but I think it's also used in Spanish football as a general term for someone who goes around kicking people. “I asked him if he was all right, but he wasn't having it. I don't think he realised I understoo

African nation’s second-annual albino competition. At Zimbabwe

Image
Zimbabwe crowned a king and queen of a unique beauty pageant Friday night. Edson Mambinge and Ayanda Sibanda were announced the winners of the African nation’s second-annual albino competition. Mambinge, a 21-year-old fitness trainer, heard plenty of hoots and hollers from female audience members at the Harare ceremony. “My God, he is such a hunk!” shouted one spectator, while another one blurted out, “That’s what I call a real man!” as Mambinge rocked the catwalk. Sibanda, an 18-year-old model with albinism, said she’s had to overcome hurtful slurs by friends and family, who have referred to her as “yellow” or “white.” “I am black, that’s what I thought," said Sibanda on Friday. “But then I am always made to feel otherwise.” At the pageant, both competitors and organizers spoke candidly about the prejudice they face on a daily basis due to albinism. Approximately 70,000 of Zimbabwe’s 16 million residents are born with albinism, according to government

Sasha Obama posing for prom night

Image
Everyone's prom photos are on social media these days. But not everyone's prom photo is the youngest daughter of former President Barack Obama. Photos surfaced on Twitter Saturday of Sasha Obama — who will turn 18 in June — posing for prom night photos along with her older sister Malia, 20, and their mother Michelle Obama, and her prom date — currently identified only as Christopher — on May 24. While photos have not been posted yet by the former first family, one account on Twitter posted a number of them including Sasha with her apparent date, her family and assumedly his family. The account owner captioned the picture: “When your lil cousin take Sasha Obama to prom.”  The post went viral, having reaped nearly 60,000 likes and over 11,000 retweets in 14 hours. In the photos, Sasha smiled in a long black, floor-length, shoulder-baring dress. Reaction on Twitter was largely positive, with most commenters loving the former White House resident's prom look.

TECHNOLOGY: IS IT THE NEW TOWER OF BABEL?

Image
Tower of Babel (Hebrew Bābhel, from Assyro-Babylonian bāb-ili,”gate of God”), according to the Old Testament (see Genesis 11:1-9), tower erected on the plain of Shinar in Babylonia by descendants of Noah. The builders intended the tower to reach to heaven; their presumption, however, angered Yahweh, who interrupted construction by causing among them a previously unknown confusion of languages. He then scattered these people, speaking different languages, over the face of the earth. The story possibly was inspired by the fall of the famous temple-tower of Etemenanki, later restored by King Nabopolassar and his son Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylonia. The Genesis account appears to play on the Babylonian word bāb-ili (“gate of God”) and on the Hebrew words Bābhel (“Babylon”) and bālāl (“to confuse”). The English words babel and babble are derived from the story. FOR TECHNOLOGY: God made a mistake in his calculations at the Tower of Babel: nowadays everybody speaks the same technology.
