NYSC hunts for 75 ex-corps

The National Youth Service Corps Foundation is searching for about 75 corps members who took between N300,000 and N400,000 loans to start small businesses but refused to pay after about four years. The defaulting corps members, who have now passed out, used their certificates as collateral, which was the only condition to access the loans. Our correspondent learnt the corps members had abandoned their certificates with the foundation for almost four years. The NYSC Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Bako Ventim, confirmed this in an exclusive interview on Monday during the opening of Skills’ Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development workshop at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Abuja. Mrs Zainab Idaho mourns Kogi coordinator

Mrs Zainab Isah, Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Nasarawa State has expressed sadness over the death of Mrs Oludolapo Ahile, the Kogi NYSC coordinator.  Ahile was on Thursday, May 16 involved in a ghastly auto crash in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital  Addressing newsmen on Saturday in Lafia, the Nassarawa NYSC Coordinator said staff of the scheme in state were deeply saddened over the demise of Ahile. Isah, however, commended Gov. Umaru Al-Makura and the NYSC Director General (DG) Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim for promptly offering assistance to those affected in the incident.  Ahile, alongside her husband, Mr Michael Ahile and two other passengers were involved in a ghastly motor crash in Azuba, a community on the outskirts of Lafia.
