Beyonce Calls Michelle Obama a 'Beacon of Hope' That Her Children Can Look Up to

Image
Michelle Obama is one of  TIME  Magazine's 100 Most Influential People.  And none other than Beyonce wrote a touching tribute to the  Becoming  author and former first lady for the magazine, revealing how she's become an inspiration to not only her, but her young children as well.  "She would’ve been impactful simply by being in the White House, the first African-American First Lady. But she also used her position of power to improve the world around her," the GRAMMY-winning musician writes. "Her initiative Reach Higher, for example, encourages young people to complete their education past high school. She empowers all of us to interrogate our fears and surpass greatness." "I’m honored to know such a brilliant black woman who’s spoken about the sacrifice it takes to balance her passions while remaining a supportive partner and mother, and now a best-selling author with  Becoming ," Bey continues. Minimum wage now N30,000 as Buhari assents to bill

Image
President Muhammadu Buhari has signed into law the Minimum Wage Repeal and Re-Enactment Act, 2019. By this act, the new minimum wage is now N30,000. The President assented to the Act on Thursday in Abuja, mandating all employers of labour across the country to pay workers a minimum of N30,000 monthly wage. The National Assembly had submitted the minimum wage bill to the President since March 27. The bill approving N30,000 as the new national minimum wage was passed by both chambers of National Asaembly before they went on break for the 2019 general elections. Earlier in the week, workers in the Federal Capital Territory had begged the President to sign the minimum wage bill. Some of the workers had expressed concerns over the delay in signing the bill into law, adding that it was causing them unnecessary anxiety.

Game of Thrones season 8 theories: Bran Stark's 'old friend' mentioned in episode 1 is not Jaime Lannister

Image
Game of Thrones  fans seem to have misinterpreted a line in the season eight premiere, which aired on Sunday night. One moment in the new installment, which featured a scene that's essentially been eight years in the making, saw Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) tell Sam Tarly (John Bradley) that he was “waiting for an old friend”. In the closing scene, Bran is watching on as Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) arrives in Winterfell, their first encounter since he pushed him from a window in the very first episode of the HBO series. Fans thinking this is who Bran was referring to, though, could be incorrect. Some viewers believe that Bran's remark was made about Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) who we know is on his way back to Winterfell to fight against the White Walkers in the hope of atoning for his past sins. This theory is seemingly corroborated by a line spoken by Bran in the trailer for season eight's second episode: “Everything you did brought you to whe...

World War Two bomb detonated in Frankfurt's river

Image
A World War Two-era US bomb has been detonated in a river in Frankfurt, causing water to spurt high into the air, German media report. Some 600 people were evacuated from parts of the city as bomb disposal experts got to work at about 08:00 local time (06:00 GMT) on Sunday. Following the explosion, divers were sent to check that the device was safe. The bomb was discovered on Tuesday in Frankfurt's River Main, German news agency dpa reports. Divers with the city's fire service were participating in a routine training exercise when they found the 250kg (550lb) device. An image posted on social media showed what appeared to be a large water fountain jetting into the air between two bridges. It is not uncommon for bombs and other war munitions to turn up in Germany. Last year,  German police defused a World War Two bomb in central Berlin , after some 10,000 people were evacuated.

ABOUT PALM SUNDAY

Image
HAPPY PALM SUNDAY 🙏🙏🙏 In ancient times, palm branches symbolized goodness and victory. They were often depicted on coins and important buildings. Solomon had palm branches carved into the walls and doors of the temple (1 Kings 6:29). Again at the end of the Bible, people from every nation raise palm branches to honor Jesus (Revelation 7:9). Palm Sunday commemorates the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:1–9), when palm branches were placed in his path, before his arrest on Holy Thursday and his crucifixion on Good Friday. It thus marks the beginning of  Holy Week , the final week of Lent. In the  Roman Catholic Church , as well as among many  Anglican and  Lutheran  congregations, palm fronds (or in colder climates some kind of substitutes) are  blessed  with an  aspergillum outside the church building in an event called the "blessing of palms" if using palm leaves (or in cold climates in the  narthex when Easter falls ea...

Kit Harington Sobbed When a Fan Asked Him If He Was Jon Snow

Image
The only people allowed to make Kit Harington cry are his wife Rose Leslie and Leslie Jones, but some unlucky fan got the better of his emotions now that his watch on "Game of Thrones" has ended. Speaking on "The Graham Norton Show" Friday ahead of the season 8 premiere of "Game of Thrones" Sunday, Harington explained how he's been preparing for life after the show. He said quite frequently he's approached on the street and asked if he's Jon Snow. And while he's a little annoyed to be referred to as his character and not by his real name by fans, he had a cool response prepared for the next time someone asked. "I had really, really waited to say, 'Not anymore.' Like in a really stoic and cool way," Harington explained. "What really happened was I left set and I was very emotional, and this poor girl came up to me at the airport and went, Are you Jon Snow? And I go, Not anymore (sobbing). She backed off pretty ...
