Boeing gives £80m to help 737 Max crash families affected

Image
Boeing is giving $100m (£80m) to help families affected by the two crashes  of the company's 737 Max planes in Indonesia and Ethiopia. The payment, stretching over several years, is independent of lawsuits filed in the wake of the disasters, which together killed 346 people. The money will support education and living expenses for families and community programmes, Boeing said. Boeing's 737 Max has been grounded worldwide since March. The loss of Ethiopian Airlines' flight ET302 in March was the second fatal accident involving a 737 Max in the space of five months. A near identical aircraft, owned by the Indonesian carrier Lion Air, went down in the sea off Jakarta in October 2018. Crash investigators have focussed on the aircraft's control system and Boeing has been working with regulators to roll out a software upgrade. But there is still no date when the manufacturer's top-selling aircraft might be cleared to fly again. Boeing said in a statement...

Former Newcastle manager wanted to stay.

Image
Former Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez says the club "did not share his vision" as he outlined for the first time his reasons for leaving. The Spaniard, whose contract expired on Sunday, said he felt like he "belonged" at the club and wanted to stay. But Benitez, 59, indicated he wanted a longer-term deal, rather than just a contract extension. "It became increasingly clear to me that those at the top of the club did not share the same vision," he said. The Magpies finished 13th in the Premier League in May as Benitez, who took over in March 2016, secured the club's top-flight status. "I wanted to stay, but I didn't just want to sign an extended contract, I wanted to be part of a project," said Benitez. "I'm very sad about that, but I do not regret for one moment my decision to come to Tyneside and I'm very proud about what we achieved together."

"It's not me. My next is to fight to win."- Jose mourinho

Jose Mourinho gave a clear indication that the vacant manager's position at Newcastle United would not appeal to him, saying that taking charge of a club where the objective is to stay in the top half of the table not in his nature. The Magpies are searching for a new manager following the failure to agree a deal with Rafael Benitez, whose three-year spell at the club is set to end when his contract expires on Sunday. Mourinho has been without a job in football since he left Manchester United in December 2018 and was linked with the vacancy at St. James' Park. But in an interview with The Coaches' Voice he gave a clear description of the kind of job he does not want to take on. "The only thing I know is what I don't want," said Mourinho. "What I don't want is crystal clear. I am quite pathalogical in the sense that I have to play to win. Then, if I win or if I don't win, that's my problem and the players and the club and the str...

Melania Trump reportedly living a 'separate life'

Image
Speculation around the somewhat mysterious  First Lady  of the United States has run rife since Donald Trump won the presidency in November 2016, and an explosive new book says there’s a very good reason why that is. Rumours of ‘fake Melania’ ,  an extended and largely unexplained hospital stay,  repeated slip ups caught on tape; a new book is claiming they are all symptoms of a sham marriage. The latest book from Michael Wolff - author of  Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House -  cites over one hundred sources, and says the Trumps have a ‘non-marriage’ that is simply rolled out for the cameras.  However the wild claims have not been widely accepted, with the book receiving criticism from both sides of politics. Ryan Lizza wrote for  The Washington Post  that the book contains “factual errors that mar the author’s credibility”. The President hasn’t responded to the new book, but described Wolff’s first book in a tweet as...
