Kensington Palace has launched an Instagram account on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
On Tuesday, the Palace announced it had created a verified account under the handle @sussexroyal. Within minutes, it had garnered more than 126,000 followers.
The account's first post was a reel of images, beginning with one that featured Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal logo over the statement: "Official Instagram for their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex."
The debut post has already prompted a flurry of enthusiastic comments from fans, including one from Markle's close friend, stylist Jessica Mulroney, who commented with two heart emojis.
"Finally!" commented one person, who added that the launch was "perfect timing" considering Markle is expected to give birth in the coming weeks.
Many fans have also expressed their excitement over the new account on Twitter.
"Awesome news," wrote one, while another concurred by writing: "Christmas came early."
Some fans have speculated whether the new Instagram account means that Kensington Palace will also launch a dedicated Twitter account to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. As of yet, no such announcement has been made.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also have their own Instagram account, though this falls under the Kensington Palace name, bearing the handle @kensingtonroyal. It has 7.1 million followers.
