Sasha Obama posing for prom night

Everyone's prom photos are on social media these days. But not everyone's prom photo is the youngest daughter of former President Barack Obama.
Photos surfaced on Twitter Saturday of Sasha Obama — who will turn 18 in June — posing for prom night photos along with her older sister Malia, 20, and their mother Michelle Obama, and her prom date — currently identified only as Christopher — on May 24.
While photos have not been posted yet by the former first family, one account on Twitter posted a number of them including Sasha with her apparent date, her family and assumedly his family.

The account owner captioned the picture: “When your lil cousin take Sasha Obama to prom.”
The post went viral, having reaped nearly 60,000 likes and over 11,000 retweets in 14 hours. In the photos, Sasha smiled in a long black, floor-length, shoulder-baring dress.
Reaction on Twitter was largely positive, with most commenters loving the former White House resident's prom look.

It's not yet known if Sasha was attending her own school's prom — the prestigious Sidwell Friends School does not list a prom on its official online calendar — or a dance at a different school. Newsweek could reach neither the Twitter account holder nor the Office of Barack and Michelle Obama for comment.
In 2018, Michelle Obama told Ellen Degeneres that the family was still living in Washington D.C., so that Sasha, then a junior, could finish high school in the same school “she’s been in since second grade.”
Despite speculation, reported by Page Six of the New York Post in December, that the youngest Obama will be headed to the University of Michigan in the fall, official details on these plans are unconfirmed.
Michelle Obama recounted in her 2018 memoir Becoming how, for Malia's first prom date in 2015, the president and first lady made an exception for their teen daughter, allowing her to travel in a limousine without Secret Service protection in the car with her and her date.
