Charms, weapons recovered from notorious gang members ahead of the 2019 presidential Elections

In an effort to sanitize and pave way for peaceful general elections in the State, the Kano state police Command had carried out vigorous raids of criminal hideouts and black spots, arrest of known and identified criminals and recovery of large cache of weapons and hard drugs (Kwaya). Notably, about 500 suspected members of gang of Yan daba, political thugs, drug sellers and users were arrested. Large quantities of machetes, weapons including sticks, swords, and charms were recovered from the suspects. Also recovered are various intoxicating substances (Kwaya) such as diazaphern, valium 5, Indian hemp, solution, suck and die, potwin injection among others. The suspects will be charged to court for prosecution immediately. This is in continuation of the command’s security and safety strategy towards ensuring hitch-free forthcoming general elections.

Breaking: Gunmen in military uniform attack INEC vehicle carrying election materials

Gunmen wearing military uniform have, Thursday, attacked the vehicle belonging to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Benue State while it was conveying non-sensitive election materials to one of the LGAs in the state. The State INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda made this known while addressing newsmen in the state. He said the vehicle was carrying non-sensitive materials to Logo area of the state when it was attacked. According to him, “This is true. Recently, our vehicle which was conveying non sensitive materials was attacked along Logo area by people in military uniform.”

New research out of Michigan State University shows that kindness and emotional stability are more important predictors of happiness in relationships than similar personalities. "We kind of started the project looking at whether similar couples were happier. Shockingly, it turned out that they weren’t," said William Chopik, assistant professor of psychology at the university. Chopik and Richard Lucas, MSU Foundation professor of psychology, reviewed data that examined happiness levels and personality traits among 2,578 heterosexual, married couples. Their findings were published in a report — appropriately released just before Valentine's Day — called,  "Actor, partner, and similarity effects of personality on global and experienced well-being."
