Aisha Bihari has officially announced as the First Lady

Image
Aisha Buhari, wife of the Nigerian president has officially announced that she will be addressed as First Lady, five years after going with the official title, ‘Wife of The President.’ She explained that the reasoning behind the current decision was to clear a discrepancy between her title and that of wives of the respective state governors. Speaking to wives of governors from across the 36 states in Abuja on Thursday, she said her new designation was to take immediate effect, multiple media outlets reported. “When my husband was elected newly I personally chose to be called the wife of the President. But, I realised that it causes confusion from the state as to whether the wives of state governors are to be addressed as the first ladies or wives of the governors. “So, forgive me for confusing you from the beginning, but now I chose to be called the first lady,” she said. Then candidate Buhari in December 2014 had said his administration will scrap the office of First Lady be...

ABOUT JAVASCRIPT, NODE.js AND PHP

What is JavaScript all about, and can JavaScript be used together with PHP for a website", JavaScript is the only programming language natively supported by browsers. Within a browser, JavaScript allows you to create interactions with users. For example, you can program logic for how it will respond when a user clicks a button, or it can be used to send data somewhere. HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is used to apply meaningful structure to content. It is most commonly used for laying content out. CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is a styling markup language, used to implement the design of a web page. These three technologies make up the “frontend stack”. PHP is a server side programing language. Technically, PHP is not part of a website (it does not run in a browser). However; it can be used to generate web code, communicate with databases, and even communicate with other computers. It’s responsible for all the “behind the scenes” stuff. In modern web development, PHP is...

Abramovich, who also has Israeli citizenship, gave his donation to the Jewish Agency

Image
Russian oligarch and philanthropist Roman Abramovich has given $5m. to the Jewish Agency for Israel to assist in its efforts to combat antisemitism around the world. Abramovich, who also has Israeli citizenship, gave his donation due to rising antisemitism in Europe, the US, and beyond and will be used by JAFI’s “International Unit,” which engages in various operations and activities to combat antisemitism. Antisemitic incidents have been on the rise in the UK, France, the rest of  Europe and in the US in recent years, including increasing numbers of violent attacks, which has heightened the need for better monitoring, intelligence and security measures for Jewish communities across the globe. Abramovich himself has not commented on his gift, but JAFI chairman Isaac Herzog praised him for his financial assistance. “Jewish communities around the world are coping with record numbers of dangerous, antisemitic attacks. I applaud Roman Abramovich for taking strong initiativ...

Her school, Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., posted a picture of her graduating class on Instagram and Facebook, showing Sasha, 18, in the second row from the back, fourth from the left.  The Instagram post featured a quote from the 2019 commencement speaker, Sheila Johnson, plus congratulations. "Life has never been about you or about me. Life and all that matters within it has always been about us.  "Congratulations to the Class of 2019! We can’t wait to see the great things you will do!" The Obamas' post-White House office in Washington did not respond to a message from USA TODAY seeking comment. There were no media pictures of the event although other attendees apparently posted pictures on Instagram, which later disappeared. The Obamas resisted talking ...

D-Day! War-time lovers enjoy emotional reunion in France 75 years.

Image
A veteran has beaten the odds to enjoy a tender reunion with his war-time lover, 75 years after they last set eyes on each other. Kara Troy (KT) Robbins, stationed with the US army in north-eastern France in 1944, fell in love with local girl Jeannine Pierson, 18. But one morning Robbins, 24, had to leave in a hurry for the eastern front. Later back in the US, he got married to someone else. "When he left in the truck, I cried, of course, I was very sad," said Pierson. "I wish after the war he hadn't returned to America." After the war, she began learning some basic English phrases in the hope Robbins would one day return to France. But, despite marrying, Robbins kept a picture of war-time sweetheart.  When he returned to France for this month's D-Day anniversary commemorations, he was clutching the image, unsure if she was still alive. Robbins met some French journalists who helped track down his war-time lover and organise an emot...

What OJ SIMPSON SAYS AFTER PRISON

Image
Twenty-five years after the grisly killings that transformed him from Hall of Fame football hero to murder suspect, 71-year-old O.J. Simpson says he is happy and healthy living in Las Vegas, plays golf nearly every day and stays in touch with his children. "Life is fine," Simpson recently told The Associated Press in a telephone interview from his home. He added that neither he nor his children want to talk about June 12, 1994, the night his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman were stabbed to death. Simpson was ultimately acquitted of the crime in what came to be known as "The Trial of the Century."     "We don't need to go back and relive the worst day of our lives," he said as Wednesday's anniversary of the killings approached. "The subject of the moment is the subject I will never revisit again. My family and I have moved on to what we call the 'no negative zone.' We focus on the positives." ...

Abortion, in Jewish law, is not a right!

Image
What brings us to Jewish religious law’s stance on abortion. As in many areas of halacha, it is complex: There are a variety of approaches, situations and opinions. A good overview of the  halacha of abortion  was written recently for JTA by nurse practitioner Ephraim Sherman. But a compendium of sources and applications cannot touch the core issue, the one that should be a game changer for Jewish-minded Jews:  responsibility . Abortion, in Jewish law, is not a right. In the vast majority of cases it’s actually a wrong. But even in cases where it is permitted or required, as when a Jewish mother’s life is endangered, even indirectly (or, although the matter is hardly free of controversy, according to some respected rabbinic opinions when the pregnancy seriously jeopardizes the mother’s health), the decision to terminate a pregnancy is not a question of a woman’s  right  to choose but of her  responsibility  to choose correctly, her obligation to ...
